The ability for GBAWC to support the education of some of Grand Bahama's finest high school students sits squarely on the generosity of the businesses and people of this community. Our golf tournament is a success thanks to many, and at the risk of forgetting a benefactor, it behooves us to say thank you: to Freeport Advertising for the artwork, signage, and marketing of our tournament, to Freeport Jetwash and Automart for supporting the hole in one contest again this year, to Clarins for the gift packages, to Red Beard's for the locale and outstanding food at our after tournament awards reception, to the Reef Course at the Grand Lucayan for their logistics and cooperation and donations, thebahamasweekly.com for advertising support, Chibah systems for the laptop, and Sands Beer for refreshments. In addition, the many sponsors of the holes, put money directly in our coffers for scholarships. Our biggest hole sponsor this year was Polymers International. Other major sponsors were Freeport Aggregates, the Larsen family, and Millie's Car Rentals. In addition our thanks go to these hole sponsors; Chibah Systems, the DeVries family, Pharmachem, Gouthro & Co., Ross University, Allie Cott Traveling Sister Troupe, Callenders & Co., Coldwell Banker James Sarles Real Estate, FOCOL Freeport Oil Company, G.B. Shipyard, Bev Hall, Municipal Motors, Paint Fair, Quality Auto, Star General, and the Canadian Women's Club.
Many businesses and people supported the tournament by sponsoring a golf cart; Adiago Artworks, Atlantis Condominium, Bahama Reef Condo, Burger King, Camelot Court, Canadian Women's Club, the Dolan family, Dr. P. Etuk, Reggie Flur, Freeport Building Supply, the Gardner family, the Hallat family, Island Bedding & Furniture, the Major family, Modelena, the Morasco family, the Nicholson family, RAM Records Archiving and Management, Sea Breeze, the Sullivan family, the Mail Drop, Troy the Dog, Waugh Construction, ?Yoga! in The Bahamas, McGibbon Auto.
A special note of thanks to Dee and Jerry Tims who donated the t-shirts that we wore at the event! We looked great and felt like a team in our red t-shirts!
Thank you to each and every one of you for your support. Many of you have helped us year after year after year, and we are humbled by your trust in our work for the children of Grand Bahama.
Chairman Christine Bonaventura welcomes our golfers. To her left are Hazel and Joyce.
Thank you, Christine.
A successful fundraising event relies on the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. One person, however, pulls it all together and makes it happen. This year our intrepid leader was Christine Bonaventura. Faced with the loss of our previous major sponsor, it fell to Christine to find a new way to organize the event. She did just that! In her quiet, efficient, gentle, and determined way she worked for many months with her committee to create this year's successful tournament. Thanks to her organizing skills and persistence, we raised enough money in this tournament to provide fifteen scholarships to deserving high school scholars. In addition donations were make to the Rand Nature Centre Summer Program, the Salvation Army Summer Program, the YMCA summer program, the Sir Charles Hayward Children's Library, and the Humane Society of Grand Bahama. Thank you, Christine, for your dedication and hard work. We miss you.
Christine thanks Brian, the Proprietor of Red Beard's Pub. Brain donated the venue and a delicious buffet to the golfers and the GBAWC volunteers. Thank you, Brian! Awesome.
